The Oncourology Department provides the following instrumental diagnostic examinations:

• Ultrasound examination
• Doppler ultrasonography
• Invasive diagnostic procedures
• Endoscopic examinations
• Transabdominal, transrectal, and endoscopic biopsy

Bladder cancer often requires a multidisciplinary treatment approach, which can be effectively provided only in a specialized multidisciplinary medical center.

The following treatment methods are performed in the Department:

1. Superficial Bladder Cancer

• Monopolar transurethral resection of the bladder
• Bipolar transurethral resection of the bladder
• Transurethral resection of the bladder under fluorescent photodynamic guidance
• Intravesical chemotherapy and immunotherapy (BCG)

2. Invasive Bladder Cancer

• Radical cystoprostatectomy with orthotopic neobladder reconstruction using a segment of the intestine, allowing patients to maintain spontaneous urination and achieve a high quality of life
• Radical cystoprostatectomy with non-continent urinary diversion
• Laparoscopic cystoprostatectomy with non-continent urinary diversion

3. Metastatic Bladder Cancer

• Chemotherapy
• Palliative radiation therapy

4. Prostate Cancer

The Department treats a large number of patients with prostate cancer. Treatment options include:

• Surgical treatment, including laparoscopic and radical prostatectomy
• External beam radiation therapy
• Hormonal therapy
• Chemotherapy

5. Kidney Cancer

The following surgical and therapeutic procedures are performed:

• Partial nephrectomy using laparoscopic and open approaches
• Laparoscopic and open nephrectomy
• Nephrectomy with retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy
• Nephrectomy with removal of inferior vena cava thrombus
• Nephrectomy with combined resection of adjacent organs
• Palliative nephrectomy
• Targeted and palliative therapy

The Department's specialists also have extensive experience in the treatment of testicular and penile tumors.

Testicular Cancer

The following treatments are performed:

• Orchifuniculectomy with adjuvant polychemotherapy
• Retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy
• Chemotherapy and radiation therapy

Penile Cancer

The following surgical procedures are performed:

• Penile amputation
• Penile extirpation
• Emasculation
• Bilateral inguinal-femoral lymphadenectomy according to the Duquesne technique

State-of-the-Art Equipment

The Department is equipped with medical technology that meets international standards, including:

• Laparoscopic and open surgical equipment, including internationally renowned Karl Storz and Olympus systems
• Endoscopic equipment for both monopolar and bipolar procedures
• A state-of-the-art ultrasonic harmonic scalpel
• A fluorescent photodynamic imaging system, enabling the early detection of bladder cancer

Approximately 1,000 surgical procedures are performed annually in the Department, the majority of which are performed using laparoscopic and endoscopic techniques.
